About this course

The diabetes burden in Asia is increasing, with poor adherence to diabetes medications, especially insulin, being a significant contributing factor. The low adherence and persistence to insulin therapy has a substantial impact on clinical outcomes, revealing a pressing unmet need in diabetes management. This first of two e-learning modules gives an overview of the barriers to insulin initiation and recommended insulin regimens, delivery systems, and devices, and discuss ways to address these in clinical practice.

• Understand the pharmacology, metabolism and role of insulin in diabetes management
• Review adherence patterns and identify patient- and HCP-identified barriers to insulin therapy
• Discuss various strategies to overcome the identified barriers around optimal insulin administration
• Facilitate patient injection motivation and compliance via effective injection techniques
