Musculoskeletal pain is a common complaint among individuals seeking medical care, with low back pain (LBP) being the leading cause of disability globally. Notably, the specific cause of LBP is unclear in most cases, with an estimated 60–85% of individuals having LBP of muscular origin at some point in their lifetime. This learning activity reviews the aetiology and burden of LBP, while simultaneously highlighting the role of skeletal muscle relaxants for LBP management.
