Overview

About this course

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is one of the most common metabolic disorders worldwide. Initial treatment begins with oral medications; however, many patients will eventually require exogenous insulin. Around 50% of patients with diabetes complications had a delay in treatment with insulin. Therefore, it is imperative that healthcare practitioners know how to address the barriers in treatment delay in T2DM patients requiring insulin. This e-learning module identifies the barriers and causes of treatment delay in insulin treatment and summarizes the principles on how to start insulin in T2DM patients.

  • Identify delays and barriers in insulin treatment
  • Determine when to start insulin therapy in T2DM
