Overview
Atherosclerosis occurs when a build-up of plaque leads to the narrowing of arteries over time, limiting the flow of blood to parts of the body. Ischemic heart disease (IHD) occurs when the arteries of the heart cannot deliver enough oxygen-rich blood to heart tissues due to the build-up of plaque, leading to symptoms such as angina or a heart attack. In this online course, Dr. Alvin Ng provides an overview of the management of patients with IHD, from recognising symptoms of IHD to navigating currently available treatment guidelines and both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment.
